~ Special Notices ~
*With the upcoming holiday, Labor Day, Monday, September 5th, Montgomery County recycling will be collected on Wednesday, September 7th.  Trash will be collected on the normal trash collection days of Tuesday and Friday.
Vehicle Towing Change
Due to a change in Montgomery County law, Henry's Towing will immediately tow any vehicle that has missing license plates because it is defined as an unregistered vehicle. No warning will be provided.
Any vehicle with expired tags is still considered registered and must first be tagged with a warning that the vehicle will be towed in 72 hours.  However, if the tagging occurs on a Thursday, Friday or holiday, the weekend days and/or the holiday will not be counted in the 72 hours.
This is Montgomery County law, not HOA policy.

Homeowner Website Registration

We ask all Homeowners of the Bonifant Woods (AKA Audubon Woods) HOA to register on the website.  Registration will allow you access to important HOA Documents (such as policies, financial reports, minutes of Board meetings, etc.), a message board, the form for emailing Board Members, emergency information emails from the HOA Board, and more.  The registration will protect your privacy - your email address will NOT be shared outside of the HOA Board.

Trash and Bulk Trash Removal
**Upcoming holiday, Independence Day, Monday, July 4th, recycling will be collected on Wednesday, July 6th.  There is no change in the trash collection date (Tuesday/Friday).
J&J Trash Service picks up our trash on Tuesday and Friday.
Household trash (anything you would put in your bathroom or kitchen trashcan) is picked up at the curb.  Free individual resident bulk (furniture items, electronics etc) items will be collected on the second collection day of the week. "Bulk does not include construction or remodeling Materials. Construction and remodeling materials will be collected for an extra charge to the  resident, payable at time qf collection."  Anything metal (appliances, grills, lawnmowers etc.) that Montgomery County will recycle is also excluded from bulk collection
Do NOT put bulk items in common areas as they will not be picked up and quickly become an eyesore and a haven for rodent and insect infestations.

If you have a question about whether they will pick specific items up, please call J&J Trash Service at 800-465-2350.

*Due to Presidents’ Day on Monday, recycling pickup is pushed to the next, Tuesday 2/22.
Our neighborhood recycling day is Tuesday. During holidays, please refer to this website to determine if there is a change in the pick up schedule.

 Exterior Paint Color Palette
Any change to external paint color(s) must be approved by the Board prior to painting.  The homeowner's request for a color change must be selected from the Williamsburg Collection by Benjamin Moore. The Board will review the proposed color change to assure harmony with existing color schemes throughout the community and issue an approval or disapproval accordingly.
The chart of colors in the Williamsburg Collection may be seen at this URL:

You will not be required to purchase Benjamin Moore brand paints. Any paint dealer can match their paint to the pallet of colors within the Williamsburg Collection.

We have a problem with some speeders in the neighborhood.  Kids are back in school and people are out walking their pets so please slow down.  Drive slowly in the neighborhood.  And, always be alert.
There is a reason that there are STOP signs!!!  Not "Slow Down" Signs.

Pet Walking and Clean up
Montgomery County law mandates that dogs must be on a leash when outside the home. There have been occasions reported when a dog has chased after a child walking to the bus stop.
We continue to have problems with owners not cleaning up from their pet. There are four stations throughout the community with plastic bags for dog waste.  Please use them - not only is it the law but it is common courtesy for pedestrians. If you see someone violating this law, notify the Montgomery County Police, Animal Services Division via the police non-emergency number (301) 279-8000.

Board Members Needed
The Bonifant Woods Homeowners Association Board should have five members, each of whom serves a three-year term.  The Board currently has two Director vacancies and is seeking homeowners willing to fill them. Requirements are to:
  • Exercise “fiduciary responsibility” by carefully considering the details of issues, having facts to support decisions, and acting in the best interests of the association, rather than in one’s own interest or the interest of any particular homeowner. (Maryland Law)
  • Complete a two-hour online training session on Board Member duties and responsibilities. (Montgomery County Law)
  • Attend board meetings regularly (currently 1 ½ hours each, six times a year).
  • Become familiar with HOA Covenants, Bylaws, and Policies in order to responsibly address issues before the board.
The board is in particular need of someone with business or government financial management experience to serve as the next Treasurer. The Treasurer monitors and advises the Board regarding the accounting support provided by the management company, along with budget development and execution.
Please contact the Board via the HOA website if you are able and willing to serve our community as a board member.

Pet Responsibility Law

The Board has received complaints about dogs depositing their waste in other homeowners yards.
Please note that Montgomery County law requires that pet owners keep their dogs on leash when not confined and that they pick up and properly dispose of their pet’s waste in their home trash container.
Residents should photograph animal law violations when they happen and identify the pet owners to Montgomery County Police when this occurs, so that the owners can be held accountable.

Penalty for Violation: $100 for first offense, $500 for each subsequent violation."
